Beaufort and Homer Smith Marina provide a welcome stop. We take full advantage of the many marina amenities and enjoy dinner on the historic waterfront.
We make progress south on our journey, but the stop in Oriental was poopy, and the Captain gets a lesson in jellyfish anatomy.
Two hot and stormy travel days, with interesting and convenient stops at Coinjock and Belhaven Marinas. Great pizza, but no ice cream.
We start the journey home, the last leg of our Chesapeake Chase (after one extra tribulation) and continue the chain of AC stops at Atlantic Yacht Basin.
We head to Norfolk, tour the battleship Wisconsin, eat burgers at Jack Brown’s, enjoy symphony (and ice cream) on the lawn, and say farewell to Jess and Debbi.
A return across the lower Chesapeake Bay to York River, then a flexible change in plan to stay two nights at Wormley Creek Marina, enjoying park, pool and AC.
We rise at dawn to catch the tide out of Smith Island and a sporty ride across the state line to Onancock, VA. Great dinner and walk in the rain for ice cream.
The Betty Lou Smith Crew visits Smith Island and samples Smith Island Cake. More importantly, we make new friends, in a unique place preserving a simple life.
An early departure from St. Michaels helps avoid a thunderstorm enroute to our anchorage in Madison Bay. The next day we have a gentle ride south to Crisfield.
We tour St. Michaels, and the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum–with many beautiful wooden boats. Fun town. Expensive. But we could still afford ice cream.
